The dev_klicensee keys exist online for NHL 2K9 and a few of the EA Sports games. This is what publishers and software companies use to stop people ripping off their product.

All PlayStation 3 games are protected with what is called a dev_klicensee which is used internally to protect and code assets. This doesn't mean things are dead but the game file encryption is proving to be difficult to get around. The project has unfortunately hit a brick wall. The goal of the project has always been to use the existing game but create modern teams, edit player photos change stats, add new logoso and essentially make an NHL 2K21.Ī longer term goal was to start editing the AI, re-write trade logic and fix a few oddities like animations and game performance. This has taken sometime hence the lack of updates from me apart from vague posts in the Discord. We kind of entered an R&D / Testing phase. There would be some ground work involved that could take sometime. This company offered for free to look at the game files and informed me that the project WOULD be 100% possible. I eventually stumbled upon sourcing some help from a company in the UK who specialise in game asset management ie: editing in game assets like sounds, graphics and importing and exporting data. Through various websites and forums I've put a small team together and some of you are in my Discord channel.

We've got jersey makers, logos makers, face artisits and roster editors on standby.

The response has been pretty cool and it's nice to see so many people wanting to chip in. I've received a lot of DM's and many people have come forward to help. With the goal of making a modded game that could run both on a PS3 console and emulated on PC. I wanted to update you all on my project to try and mod NHL 2K10 and to let everyone with interest know where we are with this.Ī number of months ago I mentioned on these forums I was undertaking a project to see if we could mod the Playstation 3 version of NHL 2K10.
